On June 10, 2026, Ottawa City Council approved the zoning bylaw amendment to enable a 24-storey apartment development at 500 and 508 Edgeworth. The discussion at City Council on this matter is found at 1:36:16 of the video recording of the meeting. While this is not the outcome that many Woodpark residents would have liked, many of the concerns raised by residents and the Woodpark Community Association were acknowledged during the Council meeting and some commitments were made to try to address them. The specific commitments made by Councillor Kavanagh during the meeting were to:
Work with the developer, city staff and NCC to ensure that the new Multi Use Path between Edgeworth and the Lincoln Fields transit station will be maintained all year round for use by all residents
Work with the developer to explore carsharing, Presto passes and other incentives to encourage tenants to use alternative forms of transportation and prevent traffic congestion
Ensure the installation of a sidewalk on Edgeworth at the same time as the construction of the apartment
Explore with the developer the use of space within the apartment development for use by the Woodpark Community Association and a children's playground for tenants on site
Work with the City's Parks and Recreation department on future amenities at McEwen Park and with the NCC on green space west of Edgeworth accessible for the community
Work with the developer and the community on a collaborative design for the site plan control for the parking construction vehicles and for safety and sound measures for the surrounding community

The Woodpark Community Association would like to thank all of the residents that took time to write to the City expressing their concerns about the development. The two letters that were sent to city officials by the Woodpark Community Association are linked for your information (one for the June 3rd meeting of Planning and Housing Committee and the other for the June 10th meeting of City Council).
