Be an Engaged Citizen

Hello Woodparkers,

The City of Ottawa offers a host of topics which you can engage upon with the City through the Engage Ottawa website. One of the most important topics on the table right now is feedback on proposed Zoning By-Law changes resulting from the Government of Ontario Bill 23, More Homes Built Faster Act, 2022. These changes are far reaching and will have significant impact on both our everyday lives and have far reaching impacts on future liveability for our residents.

There are seven discussion papers and associated surveys that you, as an engaged citizen, can provide your input. These papers are focused on the following topics:

  • Climate Change, Resiliency, and Public Health

  • Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

  • How Zoning Can Regulate Trees

  • Land Use Strategies for the New Zoning By-law

  • Neighbourhood Character

  • Neighbourhood Zones

  • Rural Zoning Issues

The Woodpark Community Association is reviewing these papers and we intend to send our thoughts to the various committees and our City Councillor. You should too! Based upon our initial review, our feedback is not going to be favourable. While some good concepts are presented, we are concerned that there is not enough detail to understand how the proposed changes will apply to Woodpark.

As with many of these engagements, the more of us that respond the louder our voices become. We think it is important that as many as possible Woodparkers respond!

The surveys close Friday, July 28.
