Help Us Capture the History of Woodpark

Woodpark has a story to tell—one that lives in the memories of its residents, the streets we walk every day, and the photos tucked away in family albums. Today, we’re excited to launch a new community project to document and celebrate the history of Woodpark, and we need your help!

What’s the Project About?

Our goal is to preserve the rich history of the Woodpark neighbourhood—from its post-war beginnings to the vibrant, evolving community we know today. With your support, we’ll build a shared archive of stories, images, and memorabilia that future generations can explore and learn from.

What We’ll Be Doing

Over the coming months, we’ll be organizing a variety of activities to gather and document Woodpark’s history, including:

  • Oral History Interviews: We’ll be sitting down with long-time residents to record personal stories about life in Woodpark over the decades.

  • Community Photo & Memory Drive: We’re collecting old photographs, letters, documents, and artifacts—anything that reflects Woodpark life, past and present.

  • Digital Archive & Online Exhibit: Everything we collect will be digitized and preserved in an accessible, community-run archive and website.

We Need Volunteers!

Do you love history, organizing events, or talking with neighbours? We’re looking for volunteers to help with:

  • Interviewing and transcribing stories

  • Scanning and organizing materials

  • Planning events and outreach

  • Designing the digital archive

This would be a great fit for high school students wanting to fill their Community Involvement hours. No experience needed—just a passion for our community!

How You Can Contribute

We’re calling on current and former Woodpark residents to share your stories, photos, and keepsakes. Contributions can include:

  • Family photographs in or around Woodpark

  • Stories about growing up here, favourite hangouts, or special memories

  • Old newspaper clippings, school memorabilia, maps, or architectural plans

  • Artifacts like postcards, brochures, or signs from local businesses

We’ll carefully scan and return all original items unless you wish to donate them permanently.

Get Involved!

To contribute or volunteer, please contact us at history@woodpark.ca

Or reach out via the Woodpark Community Association website and Facebook group.

Let’s work together to preserve the stories, memories, and identity of Woodpark—so that future generations can walk these streets knowing the history beneath their feet.
