Join the Woodpark Community Association Board and Help Shape Our Future

Dear Woodpark Resident:

As a valued and caring member of the Woodpark community, we invite you to consider joining the Board of Directors for the Woodpark Community Association. A number of our long-serving board members have dedicated years to our organisation, and now, as they retire, we are seeking a few new board members with fresh perspectives and new energy to lead us into an exciting future.

Woodpark is at a pivotal juncture. Over the next few years we will be reclaiming parts of our neighbourhood as the LRT construction is finished. New trees and public spaces will be created along the Byron Linear Path and the Lincoln Fields Orchard. Sidewalks for our neighbourhood have finally been included in the Transportation Master Plan. We will be welcoming new people to Woodpark as babies are born to existing families and new people move into our neighbourhood.  The city is developing new bylaws which will allow for intensification of our neighbourhood and it will be important to ensure that Woodpark remains a vibrant and liveable community as these changes take place.

As a board member, you will play a crucial role in helping shape our neighbourhood. You won’t have to do everything alone as we also have many volunteers that regularly step up to help with events, undertake special projects and deliver our flyers. Many hands make light work!

What We’re Looking For:

  1. People that love Woodpark and are committed to ensuring that Woodpark remains a vibrant and liveable community

  2. People with an interest and/or expertise in urban planning, event planning (such as Springfest and Movie Night in the Park), production of communication material for social media; the needs and interests of our children, youth and seniors; environmental sustainability; website development and maintenance.

  3. People with diverse perspectives about life in Woodpark (renters and homeowners; newcomers and long term residents; pedestrians, drivers, cyclists, dog walkers, parents with young children; adults of all age groups)

  4. People with a few hours to spare each month to attend our Board Meetings (we meet monthly both virtually and in person) and participate on one of our Committees (committees generally meet less frequently).

Next Steps:

If you are interested in becoming a Board Member please reach out to one of us as soon as possible to discuss the opportunity and to ask us any questions you may have. The Woodpark Community Association will be electing its  Board of Directors at our Annual Meeting on May 14, 2024, 7 pm.

Being a Board Member can be a rewarding experience. As a Board Member you have the opportunity to meet the wonderful people of Woodpark, fellow board members, community leaders and professionals from various fields. You will be exposed to the various issues that are or will be affecting our community  and have an opportunity to help shape its future.

Thank you for considering the role of Board Member. We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Warm regards,
