More Traffic on Byron this spring - Need your views on how to manage

During Councillor Kavanagh's Open House on March 26, the Woodpark Community Association learned about further changes to the Richmond/Bryon detours. This spring the westbound section of Richmond Road between Allison and Richardson will be diverted onto Bryon Avenue resulting in two-way traffic on Bryon between Woodroffe and Richardson. See below slides for more details.
In order to prevent additional cut through traffic into our neighbourhood, the Woodpark Community Association plans to ask the Stage 2 office to ensure that 1) there are signs indicating no turns into the neighbourhood from Bryon, east and west bound, and 2) that the temporary closure of New Orchard at Byron remain in order to protect children coming from and going to New Orchard park. We also think that left hand turns out of the neighbourhood onto westbound Bryon should also be prohibited given that no left hand turns out of the neighbourhood were allowed prior to the LRT construction and Bryon will be a very narrow road.
Before we ask for these temporary changes to reduce cut through traffic and ensure safety for Woodpark residents this summer, we would like to hear from residents about whether they agree with these measures and whether any other mitigation is required. Prefer to be able to enter and exit onto Byron from this neighbourhood as needed. Living years with continuous noise and dust is bad enough...
Byron Ave is narrow as it is, making it a two-way will be even harder to get out of the driveways on Bryon especially at the train station. Something will have to be done with the speed limit. At the moment, even though the limit is 30 and most people are travelling at 40 or more.
Would be great if the north end of all Woodpark streets were closed to Byron for the duration of construction. Potentially even after.....
suggestion 1) there are signs indicating no turns into the neighbourhood from Bryon, east and west bound –
My Response - Hard, semi-permanent barriers need to be put up to physically stop people from turning right off Byron Eastbound and left off Byron Westbound into the neighbourhood, and there need to be legal ramifications for those who do. Don’t put the onus on the residents to police a problem that we didn’t cause but have to live through. Have the neighbourhood OPS Officer stay in the area and aggressively ticket people, or have the LRT folks hire people whose sole job is to redirect traffic, as well as photographically document and report the infractions.
Suggestion 2) That the temporary closure…
I hope that those of us living on these streets will still be able to turn left to access our homes.
