Sidewalks on Woodland.
Councillor Kavanagh has advised the Woodpark Community Association that she will be tabling a motion with City Council on Wednesday July 23, 2025, to prioritize the sidewalk project on Woodland Avenue as part of the City of Ottawa's Transportation Master Plan. Sidewalk projects for Edgeworth between Carling and Lawn; Lawn between Edgeworth and Ancaster and Woodland between Carling and Bryon are already in the City's Transportation Master Plan. This motion would result in the Woodland project being a priority within the city. The rationale for this move is that the residents of Woodpark have long requested sidewalks within the neighbourhood and the Woodland sidewalk would provide a central route for residents to walk to the New Orchard LRT station. At this time the Woodpark Community Association does not know which side of the street the sidewalk will be built upon or when it will be built, but we do know that it will be built within the City's "right of way" (i.e. the portion of the yard closest to the street owned by the City). We have requested this information from the city.
Completion of Ditch Work on Edgeworth Ave and on Lawn Ave
The Woodpark Community Association has been working with the LRT Stage 2 office and Councillor Kavanagh's office to determine when the ditch work on Edgeworth between Lawn and Carling and on Lawn between Edgeworth and Hartleigh will be completed. Much of the work was done last fall but work remains to restore the lawns, remove protruding pipes, remove pylons etc. Some work was started in June to level out the disturbed soil but unfortunately neither grass seed nor sod was applied. These right of way areas are now full of weeds. The Stage 2 office has advised that the subdrain work and final landscaping will take place In August and September. The Association is optimistic that this work will resolve the long-standing drainage problems in this part of Woodpark.
Enjoy the rest of the summer and all that it has to offer!

Great to hear about the sidewalks on Woodland proposal - it'll help kids get to school more safely and will be essential for getting to the New Orchard LRT station once it opens.
Woodland is one of the wider streets in Woodpark, but walking on it is more dangerous for pedestrians as cars drive faster because it looks so open. This is even worse in the winter when snow banks prevent pedestrians from walking on the sides. Sidewalks are overdue here.
Lawn avenue next please, as this will cover most of the neighbourhood school routes!
